I recently watched The Program on BBCiplayer about the story of Lance Armstrong, his cycling triumphs, battle with cancer, incredible charitable works and his eventual downfall after the knowledge of his performance-enhancing drug taking became known.
Less known is the involvement of Bob Hamman, founder of SCA Promotions – a prize promotion company which paid Armstrong many millons of dollars in performance related bonuses.
Bob also happens to be a ledgendary bridge player, a winner of multiple world records and world number one for 19 years in a row! Hamman continues to play bridge (occasionally with Warren Buffet and Bill Gates) and finally won his legal case against Armstrong to have his money repaid.
