Time to take my pills

The Newfoundland Railway 1898-1969

Aunt Sophie boarded the train at Carbonear and asked the conductor to be sure and tell her when the train reached Brigus Crossroads.

Unfortunately, the conductor became so engrossed in the card game he was playing that he forgot all about Aunt Sophie’s request until the train had gone two miles past Brigus Crossroads.

The conductor informed the engineer what had happened, and the engineer, being a kindly soul, immediately agreed to bring the train to a stop and back it up the two miles to Brigus Crossroads.

When they reached the crossroads, the conductor informed Aunt Sophie. “Thank you sir, thank you very much,” said Aunt Sophie, “this is where the doctor told me to take my pill.”
